For years, the downside of doing a runDisney 5K race was that you didn’t receive an actual medal for finishing. You received this rubber kind of medallion.
Medallions like the one above for the Inaugural Disneyland Paris 5K were the standard for a runDisney 5K race. At over $80 for the 5K registrations, runDisney is finally going to be giving runners a real medal. Check them out….
First up is the 2016 Disneyland 5K medal that I will be earning this Labor Day Weekend. If you’re like me and couldn’t make out what is on the medal, I looked into it. On this medal is two of the bears from the Country Bear Jamboree. It’s ironic to me that the Disneyland 5K is featuring the Country Bears. Why? We no longer have the Country Bear Jamboree like they do at the Magic Kingdom in Florida.
Next up is the 2016 Mickey’s Holiday 5K which will be run during the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. This one has Mickey and Minnie. Pretty cool!
I’ve saved the best for last. The 2016 Captain America 5K medal is the best of the bunch (in my humble opinion). I love, love, love this medal and wish I could be running this race to get this medal. Sadly, I won’t be.
What do you think readers? Which medal is better? The 2015 Captain America 10K medal or the 2016 Captain America 5K? My vote is with the 5K one. Although, I like them both.
Well, it’s been a busy few weeks for runDisney. I’m really curious to see the race routes for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend races. I’m curious to see how the construction of Star Wars Land changes the route(s). I’m pretty sure that the Disneyland Half Marathon course will be slightly different. My guess is that we’ll get some more info about the DL Half Marathon Weekend in the next week or two. Can’t wait!
