So, what will you be doing this Labor Day Weekend? I’ll be running the Disneyland Half Marathon! I mentioned this yesterday. However, it might have been buried in the middle of a weekly recap and missed. However, this past weekend….
I visited the runDisney booth at the Los Angeles Marathon Expo. I got to see some of the new medals for the upcoming Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon Weekend and Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend. While I was there, I decided to ask if they had any discounts going. Well, the worker at the booth said they did. It was for $25 off! That meant my registration for the Disneyland Half Marathon would be $160 vs. the normal rate of $185.
Now, if you remember, back on February 21st (almost a month ago), the Disney Parks Blog let us know that the theme for the 2017 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend was going to be Pixar. Here’s what each race will be themed to…
- Adventure is out there at this year’s Kids Races featuring “Up!”
- Mr. & Mrs. Incredible are ready for the run. The Disneyland 5K theme is “The Incredibles.”
- Mike and Sulley host 6.2 miles of scares at the Disneyland 10K featuring “Monsters University.”
- Race to infinity and beyond with the pals of “Toy Story” at the Disneyland Half.
- Disneyland Double Dare: Celebrating Pixar Animation Studios\
Since I am running the TCS NYC Marathon, I knew that money would be a little tight and a run at Disneyland might not happen. Before the announcement, I had sort of decided I wouldn’t run. Once I found out that the theme was “Toy Story,” it made it really hard to resist. So, for weeks I was on the fence about running. Since they are no longer calling the challenge the Dumbo Double Dare, I knew there would be no special 5th year special medal. So, I didn’t need to think about coming up with the $300+ for the challenge. At $185, I was on the fence.
However, with the price coming down to $160, Buzz Lightyear will be making an appearance at the 2017 Disneyland Half Marathon! Now, I’ll only be running the half and none of the other races that weekend.
I had a blast running the 2016 Disneyland 5K….
and the Disneyland 10K (ironically as Buzz!)! But, this year, I’ll miss the Disneyland 10k for the first time. It’s going to be a little strange to only run one race on that weekend. After all, in 2013, 2014, and 2015, I ran the Dumbo Double Dare. Then, last year, I ran the 5K and 10K. So, that will be a little strange.
However, I do look forward to running through the Big A again this year…
and the car show again this year. It should be fun going to infinity and beyond this Labor Day Weekend! Can’t wait! Will I see anyone there?
