From now on, January 27th will be known in my house as “Gotcha Day.”

Today, we will finalize the adoption of our little boy! We finally will have our day in court that will make us the legal adoptive parents of Colton. We will no longer be viewed (by the state) as Foster Parents or Guardians of Colton. Today, we will officially become his parents!

It’s been a long, long wait, but…oh so worth it! This week, I’ve done a lot of thinking about the journey we’ve been on to get to this moment. It was almost 5 years ago that we went to the orientation at Bethany Christian Services and began dreaming of this day. It took around 6 months to finish the checklist we had to get certified to adopt. Then, we waited nearly 3 and a half years before we received that best call ever…the one that told us this boy had been born and his biological parents wanted to meet us. We’ve had him in our home for more than 10 months. Today, we cross the last item off our checklist. We head to court where a judge will declare us as his parents.

Yep. It’s going to be legendary!
