This IS the race you’ve been looking for! Disney AP Holders and DVC (Disney Vacation Club) Members had their early registration open up yesterday (Tuesday). If you didn’t get in to the race(s) you wanted to with the early registration, you are still in luck. Registration for the 2017 Star Wars Half Marathon at Disneyland (aka the Star Wars Light Side Half Marathon) opens next Tuesday (January 14th) at noon EDT…that’s 9am for those of us out here on the west coast. I am super excited about registering for this race again this year. The Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend is my absolute favorite runDisney race anywhere!
I’m planning on signing up for the Star Wars Rebel Challenge for the third year in a row. This is THE one runDisney race I hope to run as long as they run it. My friend Patty has an excellent blog post with her tips for making sure you get into the runDisney race you want. You can check our her post here. Two tips she shares, I want to especially highlight…
- Social Media is your friend. There are plenty of runDisney groups out there on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I have a link to one of the best on the right side of my blog. All you have to do is click the link and it will take you to the Facebook page of the #Team RunDisney group. As Patty says, these groups will give you the heads up when the links to register go live. I always go to the #Team RunDisney group to get the direct link. Going through the runDisney web site is slow. While the frenzy over RunDisney races has slowed a bit lately, the best way to get in is to be ready to go 5-10 minutes before noon EDT.
- Don’t enter your proof of time; you can go back and add it after you register by editing your info on active.com.
Don’t let the Dark Side of the Force keep you in the “dark” about pricing. Here are the costs associated with the races…

I think runDisney may have heard the outcry of runners over the cost of running in the 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon. While the prices are still high, they look like they are a little less expensive than the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.
So, who’s going to blast off faster than a speeder bike next Tuesday and register for the races at the 2017 Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland? Get those credit cards cleared over the next week. You’ll need plenty of room. The clock is ticking…ready…set…
Hope to see you there!
