It’s finally here! The Star Wars Half Marathon Expo starts today at 10am. Will you be there? I will! I’m sorry that I didn’t get a post up the past few days. Technical difficulties kept me from doing so. My day will start early. I’ll be up before this post goes up to sign up at the New Balance Virtual queue…
After all, I really want a pair of these Mickey shoes! You can go to the virtual queue by visiting here. Starting at 6am PDT, the queue will be open on each day of the expo. On day 1 of the expo, only runners will be allowed to get a spot. So, have your race bib number ready before you log on. On day 2 and 3, runners will still be allowed to register, but so will non runners. This gives runners the first shot at securing a pair of these limited edition New Balance shoes. For more information about the shoes offered, check out my post from last week. Good luck to all who want a pair of the 2016 runDisney New Balance shoes!
The plan is to leave for Disneyland no later than 7:30am this morning so I can be at the expo around 9-9:30am. How the day goes will largely depend on when I get my turn at the New Balance booth. However, the initial plan is this…
I’m going to be hitting up the official runDisney Merchandise. Yesterday, on the Disney Parks Blog, we got a sneak peak at some of the merchandise that will be on sale. This is not everything. However, we got a pretty good look.
It looks like we’ve got a few options with the “I Did It!” shirts.
From the above photos, it looks like runDisney has gone retro with their Star Wars merchandise.
I will not be purchasing one of these. However, if you’re into the Dooney purses, here’s what the Star Wars ones will look like.
After getting the official merchandise, it will be time to head down to get my race bib.
Then, it will be time to head inside the main expo floor to get my race shirts and check out all the expo has to offer. Of course, the plan could change depending on when I get my turn at the New Balance booth.
Later in the day, the speaker series will start. If you’ve done these expo’s before, there are some familiar faces. Tara Gidus will be there to give nutrition advice. Jeff Galloway will give running advice. Then, we’ve got Matt Martin and Cole Horton to bring some Star Wars flare to the speaker series.
Some of the other fun things going on for the weekend are the various meet ups. This one is on Friday evening and is hosted by two of my friends AJ and Ivie. Unfortunately, I will not be at this meet up because I’ll still be at work. However, if you’re at the resort and want to meet some fun runners, stop by. It’s also at Downtown Disney. So, you don’t even need to have a theme park ticket!
Saturday afternoon (after the Star Wars 10K), there will be the We Run Social Meet Up. Here are some of the giveaway items for this meet up…
Here’s the group pic from the We Run Social Meet Up at the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. Don’t we look like a fun bunch of people? Anyways, I want to mention that all are invited to this meet up. You don’t have to be running any of the races to come. You don’t even have to be a runner. If you just want to come and hang out with some cool runners, stop by. It all starts at 1pm. From the We Run Social Meet Ups I’ve gone to, I will say that you should plan to arrive somewhere between 1pm and 2pm. People will likely stick around until 3pm. So, if you can give up some park time, please stop by.
I’m super stoked that this race weekend is finally here! Tomorrow, I’ll post my running attire for the Star Wars 10K and the Star Wars Half. I’ve been having some issues with UPS on what I ordered for the 10K. So, I’ve got to wait and see if it arrives in time. I’ll be posting pics all weekend long on Instagram and Twitter. So, if you want to follow along, make sure to follow me on those social media.

If you see me around the resort this weekend, please say “hello.” It’s always so much fun to meet the folks that choose to read my ramblings. For all those that are running…May the Course be With You!
