Welcome to Christmas at Disneyland! Okay, I’m a couple of days late with this. It’s been a crazy busy week that I’ll recap on Monday. Better late than never.
I love the Fresh Baked Disney You Tube Channel. It’s a great channel for the Disneyland fan! In the first video, he checks out all the decorations at Disneyland on Main Street U.S.A. It’s a perfect intro to Christmas at Disneyland.
Back in Big Thunder Ranch, they have transformed it into the Jingle Jangle Jamboree. Fun times!
This video continues the fun back at the Jingle Jangle Jamboree. What I love about these two videos is that they truly capture all the fun that can be had back in the Big Thunder Ranch at Christmastime!
Part of the Jingle Jangle Jamboree is this show called the Plight Before Christmas. This show replaces the former Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.
So, which do you prefer? The Plight Before Christmas, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, or do you like both? If you’ve been to Disneyland over the years, you probably know that Billy Hill and the Hillbillies used to perform at the Golden Horeseshoe Review. This video above is from their last show. So, it’s kind of a special show.
It wouldn’t be Christmas at Disneyland without a performance by the Dapper Dans. One thing you can count on from the Dapper Dans for some great Christmas cheer through a capella music!
How many people capture the Christmas shopping experience at a theme park? So, if you want to know what you missed out on by not going to Disneyland this Christmas season, check this out. If watching others shop is not your thing, you probably should skip this video.
I had thought of looking for another video for this parade. However, this seems to be fun to follow someone around in their day at Disneyland for the Christmas festivities. So, we’ll go with his video of the Christmas Parade at Disneyland.
Okay, I realize that the previous video is more like highlights of the Christmas Fantasy Parade. So, here ‘s the full thing. One thing different about Disneyland is that the parade is held in the day and at night. Since we don’t have a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, like the Magic Kingdom, we are able to do that out here.
Up next is the Jingle Jungle Cruise! I showed you last week what the Jingle Jungle Cruise is like at the Magic Kingdom. Here is the Disneyland version. Enjoy!
Of course, if you want the ride alone, this video is for you. The previous video is more than just the ride.
I know that Frozen isn’t exactly Christmas, or the holidays. However, Disney is putting everything Frozen in their holidays. So, I’ll include this look at Arendale on the Storybook Canals. It’s new to this attraction.
It’s A Small World Holiday is everything you’ll need to get in the Christmas spirit. If you don’t come off the ride in the Christmas spirit, you might be dead inside…I kid. However, I love, love, love It’s A Small World at the Holidays! Riding this attraction at night is the most popular time. As you can see in the video, the way the facade is lit up is stunning! Also, I would have never thought to run a loop of Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, and It’s A Small World together. However, it’s absolutely brilliant! This is one attraction that simply cannot be missed when visiting Disneyland at the holidays.
In addition to the wonderful lights that light up the facade of It’s A Small World, there is this fun projection show that gets put on (I believe every 15 minutes…or maybe 30 minutes).
I include the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the Haunted Mansion ride again with the Christmas virtual trip because this is what happens when TWO holidays collide. It’s part Halloween and part Christmas. This attraction is simply too fun to ignore at Christmas time.
Last week, we watched Cinderella’s Castle light up. This week, we’ll get to watch Sleeping Beauty’s Castle light up. Simply magical!
We’ll close our time at Disneyland out with Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks.
Across the way from Disneyland is Disney California Adventure. They have their own Christmas fun. I like this video because it gives you a little different experience getting into DCA. Check out the Buena Vista Street Bell Ringers.
This video gives you a pretty good overview of the Christmas decor at Disney California Adventure at night.
Viva Navidad! is such a fun show at DCA! Who says EPCOT is the only place to incorporate other countries in their Christmas celebrations?
Back on Buena Vista Street, they have a daily lighting of the tree ceremony. I caught this ceremony by accident last year and loved it DCA is great at these little “atmospheric” kind of shows!
One of the newest shows at DCA…I do mean new. Like as of Christmas week. This is Frozen Feeze the Night Dance Party. This is what has replaced the Mad T Party.
With this new show is a new meet in greet location for Anna and Elsa. Again, Disney is tying Frozen into Christmas. So, I’ll just go with it.
Here is the 2014 version of the World of Color: Winter Dreams. There’s a lot more Frozen in the 2014 version. I’m not sure if I liked this show as much as the 2013 version. I’ll let you decide.
So, what do you think? Do you like the 2013 version or the 2014 version better? I do like both versions of World of Color: Winter Dreams better than the regular World of Color Show. With Olaf serving as our guide through the show, it simply ties in the various clips better.
I love this video for closing out our time at the Disneyland Resort at Christmas. It features Olaf’s Ice Rink in Downtown Disney. Next Friday, I’ll kick off a new year, with a new theme park on our virtual trips…Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Happy New Year everyone!
Great overview of the resort! I think the 2013 Winter Dreams is much better-I think it flows better and uses more Disney clips. This year was completely overtaken by Frozen and random frozen songs (love is an open door is an example) were just thrown in.
