Tomorrow, we’ll begin our virtual trip to Walt Disney World by visiting the Magic Kingdom. I don’t know why,but I had this idea today to start the virtual trip like most of us instead of just starting off at the first theme park. So, we’re going to do two virtual trips this week if that’s okay. If not, fear not. Next week will be back to just the one virtual trip. So, let’s get this party started…
If I were to head out to Walt Disney World, it would begin with a rather long flight from LAX to Orlando. I know that this video is a bit long. However, it covers boarding a Virgin America airplane, taking off from Los Angeles, highlights from the flight, and landing in Orlando. You don’t really have to watch all 24 minutes of the video. However, if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to fly with Virgin America Airlines, this video will give you a pretty good idea of the experience.
Once you arrive, in Orlando, we’ve got to make our way to Disney’s Magic Express service to Walt Disney World. If you’ve never used Disney’s Magic Express, this video will give you all you need to know once you arrive at the airport. This service is free. Yes, free! Disney will send you tags for your bags ahead of your trip. Put the tags on the checked bags. Then, once you arrive, Disney will take care of getting your bags to your resort! When you check out, you can have your bags checked at your resort as well. It’s a really cool service and is FREE!
Once you board Disney’s Magic Express bus, your Walt Disney World vacation has officially started! If you’re using this service, then you’re staying on Disney property. So, you’re more than likely not going to be leaving the Disney bubble once you’ve boarded Disney’s Magic Express. The above video is an older version of the video that plays on your journey from the Orlando Airport to Walt Disney World.
I like this video because, it’s the 2014 version of the video, it features Carissa (one of our runDisney race announcers), and because of the background noise, it’s more than likely how you will experience the trip if you take it yourself. Since this is a virtual trip, we strive to be as authentic as possible.
If I were travelling to Walt Disney World and money were no object (as it is on a virtual tour), I’d choose to stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. I think the video above speaks for itself as to why I’d pick this place. After the virtual trips to the 4 Disney theme parks at Walt Disney World are finished, I’ll spend some time exploring the various Disney resorts. So, I’ll come back to the Polynesian in more detail later. For now, this video serves to say that I’ve finally arrived at Walt Disney World! Let the virtual Walt Disney World trip begin!
In a little preview of tomorrow’s trip to the Magic Kingdom, if I were to stay at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, I’d more than likely arrive in the evening. Flying from Los Angeles to Orlando takes quite some time and there is a 3 hour time difference. So, Brooke and I would more than likely arrive in the evening. After getting some food and walking around the resort, we’d head over to the beach area to watch Wishes from there. As you can see, it’s not quite the same. However, on our honeymoon, Brooke and I caught the Spirit of Aloha dinner show and then hung out at the little beach and waited for Wishes. Up until 10 minutes prior to the show, we had the whole beach to ourselves. Imagine watching this from the beach. It’s a pretty cool way to end the day.
Yay! Something I can start offering some input on as well! I have only done DME once. I have a friend that works for DME. The only advice is that if you are using it, know that it could stop at 1 hotel or 6, so it is great if you are one, but if you are the sixth hotel, you will be on awhile, so plan accordingly. This is her biggest complaint she receives. Because they think it is magical, they assume it will whisk them directly to their hotel from the airport, and that is not always the case. I am looking forward to your tours again, especially to the park “I” call home! 🙂
Thanks for the information about Disney’s Magic Express! Pro tips are always welcome!

Recently my friend Greg over at Why I RunDisney did a set of virtual tours of each section of the Disneyland parks. They were awesome, look back if you can. Now he is going to do them for Walt Disney World in Flordia, our home park. So I am going to reblog them so you can enjoy them alongside us!
