Tunes I’m Loving Lately to Run With

When the Disneyland Half Marathon happened, I turned to a few new tracks to help me through the race. Since the race, I’m still groovin’ to these tracks in my training runs and loving it. So, I thought, even though I’ve posted videos to all of these tracks on my Disneyland Half Marathon Playlist posts (part 1 and part 2), I thought I’d give these tracks the highlighting they deserve.

First up is Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts from the movie Cars. This track came up as I was entering the backstage area of Disney California Adventure by the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and carried me all the way to the Esplanade on the way to Disneyland. The beat of the song is fast enough to help keep your energy going and the chorus feels fun while running. I also like the lyrics in the chorus…

Life is a highway

I’m gonna ride it all night long

Not exactly bad words to be hearing while your out on a long run. Don’t you think? This weekend, I’ll be running 9.5 miles. So, it’s a good time to think about playlist. I’m going to be experimenting with putting this track a little further back on the list for the run. Sometimes, having something encouraging in the lyrics of a song can bring you back in focus when you’re feeling tired.

When We’re Human from the Princess and the Frog is my favorite of the additions I made for the Disneyland Half Marathon! It’s such a fun track to run with. The energy is great with this dixieland piece. I wish I had something more profound to say about this track. However, it’s just a really fun track to run with. There is a pretty good chance that this song will be on my playlist for the next two half marathons I have coming up (Long Beach Half Marathon and Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon).

Lastly, is the Star Wars Main Title and Imperial March. I don’t know what it is, but lately, I’m having fun running with purely instrumental tracks. I don’t think I could run an entire race without tracks that have words. However, I’ve been groovin’ to the Pirates of the Caribbean music for several months now. So, when the thought of running by Star Tours with the Imperial March in my ears came up, I gave it a try. Now, I love this track! It will definitely be on my playlist for the Star Wars Half Marathon in January and there’s a good bet that it will be on the list for the Long Beach and Avengers Half Marathons as well.

Here’s a sneak peek at a track that I know will be playing at some point of the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon for me. I heard this while having a meal at my in-laws house and knew it would find its way to my playlist at some point. The cool thing about these themes is that they don’t last very long. So, if you try them out and it doesn’t work, you won’t have to wait long to get to the next track. I’m already working on ideas for the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon. Can’t wait until they give us the official race course. I’ve posted what runDisney submitted for this race. However, until I see the actual map runDisney puts out, I won’t be able to properly plan.

Hopefully, some of these tracks will find their way onto your playlist. They are certainly doing well for me. Happy running!
