Disney-fying my Running Playlist for the Disneyland Half Marathon

Now that the hardcore training for the Dumbo Double Dare and/or Disneyland Half Marathon is in the rearview mirror, I’ve started working on that ever so important playlist for the race. While it would be a little impossible to have music for every part of the course in Disneyland because you’re passing through the two theme parks too fast. So, I’ve tried to think of some options to make the run even more magical.

While I don’t have the exact measurements worked out on my posts about our time in the theme parks, (Disney California Adventure, Disneyland) I can come up with some guesses. You should know that when you enter Disney California Adventure towards the end of mile 2, you will be greeted with the music from World of Color. So there is no need to put that track in your list (unless you want to). I’m planning on unplugging when I enter to take in the wonderful World of Color music and look at the fountains. However, the mile 2 marker is by the Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. So, I’m thinking this would be a good track for when I get close.

I’m hoping that Under the Sea will carry me until close to the entrance of Cars Land…aka Radiator Springs. So, as I looked for music over the weekend, I found this track on iTunes and purchased it. It’s such a fun track and I look forwards to listening to Mater all the way down Route 66.

If I decide to stop at the end for a picture (which I think I will), then this would be the perfect next song to keep me going for a while. Life is a Highway by Rascall Flats was featured in Cars. So, it works for Cars Land. Now this track will likely carry me up through Hollywood Land.

Next up will likely be the soundtrack to Soarin’ Over California. After all, by the time I get to the end of Life is a Highway, I should be not too far from Soarin’ Over California. I think this track will take me all the way out of California Adventure.

Next up will be the music from the Main Street Electrical Parade. This track is long which might be perfect if I decide to stop for some photos along Main Street U.S.A. I’m sure that there are other tracks I could have playing as I enter Disneyland. However, I’ve been running with this one and like it. Of the tracks I’m listing here, this one is the track I’m most likely to cut. At 14 minutes, it may be too long for inside the parks. However, this song will be on the playlist.

Somehow, this song seems like a good fit for when the race course veers off Main Street U.S.A. into Frontierland. What do you think? I haven’t tried running with this song yet, but I might. That is, if I decide to cut the Main Street Electrical Parade from the theme parks part of the half marathon.

Of course, another choice would be When We’re Human from Princess and the Frog. After all, the race course runs through Frontierland towards the Mark Twain Riverboat. Hmmm. Choices, choices, choices.

Following the Leader seems like a great fit for running through Fantasyland and maybe through Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

This might make a great follow-up to take me through Tomorrowland and past Star Tours. Darth Vader and two Storm Troopers are usually found at the Tomorrowland Terrace. Wouldn’t this be a great track to be listening to while waiting for your picture with them… or just running by?

I’m hoping that this track will be playing as I make my way towards It’s a Small World towards the end of our time inside Disneyland. My list is still a work in progress. However, I am planning on running with this track. Even if I have to stop the music until I get within sight of It’s A Small World, it will be playing as I make my way towards this attraction. After singing on Good Morning America for the 50th Birthday of this attraction earlier this year, I’ve loved running with this track. It’s a lot of fun. You should try it sometime.

This will most likely follow It’s A Small World to take me out of the backstage part of Disneyland and onto the streets of Anaheim. I think this track would be perfect for the transition from the magic of Disneyland to the streets of Anaheim. We’ve got to keep the magic going somehow. Right?

  1. I made my world of color song off a YouTube to mp3 converter. They’ve never officially released the song before which is crazy to me!

And I have many of the songs you have here on my playlist already! Hopefully I will have time this weekend to finalize my playlist!
