The 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is just over a month away and I’m getting really excited! Can you tell? Since I took a Wordless Wednesday to look back at the Disneyland Half Marathon form last year, I thought I’d follow that up with a pictorial look back at the Inaugural Disneyland 10K on this Throwback Thursday.
The Mile 1 marker for the 2013 Disneyland 5K which was held the same day as the Disneyland 10K last year. It was a bad idea which Disney has fixed this year. However, last year, they ran the 5K and 10K back to back. So, the signage for the 5K was still up. I took the picture because I thought it was funny. We had already passed the Mile 2 marker (for the 10K) before we got here.
I need to re-do this picture this year. The picture came out way too hazy for my liking.
The lone “hill” of the Disneyland 10K course.
The Disneyland 10K is my absolute favorite runDisney race course! I loved running this race last year and can’t wait to do so again this year! This race course spends 4 of the 6.2 miles on Disney property. There is so much theme park time on this course that those who are running in it will love it! If you want to check out a video to capture the entire 2013 Disneyland Half Marathon weekend in 20 minutes, check out the following video…
Of the videos I’ve watched from the 2013 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, this one puts everything together rather nicely. Of course, whenever watching race videos, be prepared for lots of shaky video. Some highlights for me…at around 5:50 in the video, you will see Pam and Christine from the We Run Disney blog. At the 7:23 mark, you’ll see Joey Fatone. The Disneyland Half Marathon footage begins at 10:25. He doesn’t capture too much of running in the theme parks for the Disneyland Half Marathon. However, around 12 minutes or so into this video, you’ll get a sense of what it’s like to run through Angel Stadium. Something I find interesting is that he edits the video so that you get his finishing each race back to back to back. He did the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon. So, you get each finish right after each other. Also, he concludes the video with the kids races.
The 2014 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is a little more than 30 days away! It’s almost here! If you’re running in it, are you excited yet?
