Working Through the Cocoon – Week 3 Roud Up

2013-01-20_05-54-55_296

I don’t know if there are any “Lost” fans out there. However, as I made my way through week 3 of the Disneyland Half Marathon training, I couldn’t help but think of these wise words from John Locke…

Earlier this year, I caught the running bug after finishing my first half marathon. I did what others have done before me. After finishing a half marathon without much training, I thought, what would happen if I actually did proper training for a half marathon. How much faster could I finish? Now, I’m in the third week of 18 to prepare for that next half marathon. It’s difficult to go out when, after a full day of work, I’m tired and it would be so easy to go home and relax on the couch. I could try to find some easier road to take. However, like the moth in John Locke’s example, I need to struggle through the training in order to find the strength I need to be who I want to be. In the end, all this work will be worth it.

I’m proud to say that I finished all 5 training workouts this week! I only lost one pound this week. However, I’ve already exceeded my 4 week goal and I still have one week to go! Here’s what my week looked like.

Monday – Rest Day

Tuesday – Ran 3.10 miles

Wednesday – 30 minutes on the Elliptical machine, abs, upper body and lower body weights

Thursday – Ran 3.10 miles

Friday – Rest Day

Saturday – Ran 3.10 miles

Sunday 30 minutes on the Elliptical machine, abs, upper body and lower body weights

I hope everyone had a fantastic week as we work our way out of these cocoons into strong, competent, beautiful runners! Run on! Don’t get “Lost” along the way.

    1. Great job! I completely understand. However, all this work will pay off come Labor Day weekend.
